In the heart of Mumbai, amid the bustling streets and the rich cultural tapestry of India, Furtados School of Music (FSM) stands as a beacon of musical enlightenment.
Founded on the illustrious legacy of its parent company, Furtados, which boasts over 154 years of musical heritage, FSM has woven a melody of success by enriching the lives of more than 75,000 students across the country over the past decade.
"At FSM, our mission is rooted in the belief that music should be accessible to all," shares Tanuja Gomes, the passionate co-founder and co-CEO of FSM, reflecting on their journey.
“From our humble beginnings, we've strived to nurture talent, empower aspirations, and create performance opportunities, ensuring that the language of music is spoken and understood by all."
The school's journey has been one of evolution and adaptation, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.
With agility at its core, FSM swiftly transitioned to online platforms, successfully imparting musical education to 20,000 students virtually within a span of eight weeks.
This shift not only sustained their engagement but also broadened their reach beyond physical boundaries.
"Our partnerships have been instrumental in our growth," Gomes emphasizes, citing FSM's collaboration with prestigious institutions like Berklee College of Music.
These alliances not only bolster FSM's curriculum but also foster a community-driven approach to music education, enriching the cultural fabric both locally and globally.
FSM's impact extends beyond traditional boundaries of music education. "Music is not just an art; it's a therapeutic medium," Gomes asserts.
She explains how the dopamine release triggered by music parallels the emotional highs experienced in love, underscoring its profound psychological benefits.
FSM's curriculum, spanning voice, piano, keyboard, guitar, drums, and percussion instruments, is designed not just for technical proficiency but also for emotional resonance.
Looking forward, FSM is set to launch FSM Buddy, an innovative online platform aimed at democratizing arts education.
This initiative will connect learners with top educators across various disciplines, including music, speech, drama, and life skills, catering to the evolving needs of today's learners.
The recent infusion of Rs 20 crore in funding from investors like IAN Fund and DSG Consumer Partners underscores FSM's growth trajectory.
This capital injection will further expand FSM's footprint across major cities in India, enhancing technological infrastructure and broadening educational offerings. FSM's operational profitability and robust year-on-year growth reflect its commitment to excellence and sustainability in music education.
